Anderson Clark Motor Repairs have established themselves as the premier independent motor vehicle servicing and repair center in the Highlands. Like many businesses, Anderson Clark were looking to reduce their overheads, one being their heating costs. They wanted a new system which would save them money and also fit into their carbon management plan. Mr Clark came to Korrie Renewables for suggestions as he knew they are local experts in the field.
With space at a premium, Korrie decided to install an external biomass boiler. This will not only provide a cheaper fuel source but will also provide a RHI income, whilst being a carbon neutral source of heat.
The biomass boiler is a Trianco Greenflame 28kW, which has an incorporated 100kg fuel store. It was more suited in this application to install a fully automated system with a 4 tonne hopper. This means they only require two deliveries of pellets a year, allowing minimal disruption to the business.

Anderson Clark - Case Study
As a small business, Mr Clark was eligible for a small business loan from the Energy Saving Trust. This is a loan up to £100,000 with an interest rate of 5%. In terms of fuel savings, Anderson Clark will look to save around £1,400 a year on energy bills as a result of changing to pellets from oil. As the company is using a renewable heating system, they will be eligible for Government Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payments. These payments are estimated to be circa £3,100 per annum for 20 years.
With the income from the RHI and savings from the change in fuel, Anderson Clark will reduce thier overhead by £4,500 a year. The system has an expected payback period of under 4 years.
