Biomass Systems for your Home
Biomass systems can provide heat at a much lower cost compared to conventional fuels such as oil and electricity. A typical three bedroom semi-detached house with basic insulation using oil for heating can expect to save up to £270 a year. A similar house using electric heating can save up to £630 a year! Further savings can be make when buying wood fuel in bulk as blown deliveries into a hopper can be up to £50 cheaper per tonne than bagged pellets on a pallet.
The amount of carbon dioxide which is produced when burning the fuel is the same as the amount absorbed during the lifetime of the tree. The only carbon emissions are from the cultivation and transport of the fuel, so sourcing local fuel will keep emissions significantly lower than fossil fuels.
Biomass boilers provide an easy and affordable way to heat your home. By burning wood pellets, chips or logs, these boilers can provide heat on demand at a much lower cost compared to an oil or electric heating system. Biomass is also one of the greenest ways to heat your home.
Korrie Renewables work with a small number of selected manufacturers to provide a range of boilers which are reliable, cost effective and user friendly. From external Trianco boilers to internal Herz boilers, Korrie can design and install a bespoke system to suit your home.
We can also provide a wide range of storage options from boilers with internal storage to external hoppers to provide a fully automated system. Combined with our range of service options, Korrie can provide the full package to give you peace of mind.
Biomass systems offer a low cost source of heat but incurs a higher capital cost for installation. This can be easily offset with incentives which are available such as interest free loans and the Renewable Heat Incentive. With these incentives you can even have a surplus on your investment in the first year which isn't possible on fossil fuel systems.
Interest Free Loan from Home Energy Scotland
Home Energy Scotland provides interest free loans for the installation of renewable heating systems. The loan can be up to the value of £10,000 per installation or up to 75% of the installation value, whichever is higher. The loan can be paid back over a period of up to 10 years.
Renewable Heat Incentive
The Government provides payments for people generating and using renewable heat. These payments are in the form of Renewable Heat Incentive payments which are made through Ofgem. The amount of money you receive will depend on the outcome of an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). The more heat a house requires, the larger the payments will be. A large solid stone walled house will recieve larger payments compared to a modern new build.

Income through RHI
Pay back as little as 5 years
If a typical four bedroom house with basic insulation replaced an oil boiler with an new external biomass boiler, the installation cost would start from £9,999. This could be either an internal or external boiler which will have a fuel capacity of 100kg. This means 4 to 7 days between filling.
By simply changing to biomass, you would look to save from £335 per year.
Payments from the Renewable Heat Incentive could be around £2,135 per year.
With savings and payments from £2,470 per year this system could pay for itself in 5 years! With RHI payments guaranteed for 7 years, you could earn around £4,940 when the payments finish.
