Mr Howden - Case Study
The biggest advantage of converting to biomass is the high fuel cost savings and generous income available from the Government's Renewable Heat Incentive.
By changing to pellets from oil, Mr Howden can expect to get an estimated annual savings and income from RHI Payments of of £4,500 and with a carbon dioxide saving of up to 14 tonnes. With RHI payments guaranteed for 7 years, Mr Howden could look to get a return on his investment.
Domestic Biomass System
When looking to replace his expensive and inefficient oil boiler system Mr Howden looked at various ways of heating his home which would not use valuable space in his property. After speaking to Korrie Renewables, an external biomass boiler was suggested which would work in conjunction with a new central heating system and a new hot water cylinder.
An external Trianco Greenflame 18kW biomass boiler was installed along with an ACV hot water cylinder and buffer vessel. This buffer tank reduces the amount of start ups required by the boiler, thus reducing the fuel consumption.
Designed to MCS standards, the external Trianco boiler is fully protected against the elements. It’s in built 50kg pellet store can hold up to 4 days usage of fuel. Korrie also provide a wide range of accessories from larger fuel stores to a Combi Pod to provide hot water on demand.
