50kW Commercial Biomass Boiler Replacement
Forestry Enterprise Scotland, Smithton - Case Study
Forestry Enterprise Scotland aim to promote the sustainable management of Scotland’s forests. When looking to replace the aging biomass boiler at their office in Smithton, Inverness, they looked to KORRIE to bring a solution fitting with their aims.
After carrying out the initial surveys, a Froling T4 50kW woodchip boiler was installed. The new system replaced the old, and KORRIE interfaced the new boiler with the existing heating and hot water system. The wood-chips are sourced locally, providing a sustainable source of fuel whilst reducing their fuel bills. KORRIE also installed a new heat meter, making the system eliglible Renewable Heat Incentive payments.
By replacing their old system, the Forestry Commision will see a noticeable reduction in their fuel bills, along with guaranteed RHI payments for 20 years they should see a return on the money invested in the system.
