16kW Biomass System
When the Korrie Group built its new fabrication workshop and store they were looking for a heating system to provide low cost heat which also fitted in to their Carbon Management Plan. A biomass boiler was selected as it provides low cost heat, is a carbon neutral source of heat and is eliglible for Government Renewable Heat Incentive payments.
The boiler installed was a Trianco Greenflame 15kW external boiler. This is automatically fed with pellets from an internal fuel store with a capacity of 100kg. The internal store is manually filled with bagged pellets. As the boiler provides heat on demand, a buffer vessel is not requried.
By choosing a biomass system, Korrie will benefit from lower fuel bills and will also receive payments through the Renewable Heat Incentive. This will allow Korrie to be paid for each unit of heat generated and used from the biomass boiler. Fuel savings compared to a mains gas boiler will be circa £380 per annum and with potenical RHI payments of circa £1,600 per annum, Korrie look to save around £1,980 a year by using biomass.
