Care Home Biomass System
Scotsburn Care Home, Tain - Case Study
The Scotsburn Retirement Complex in Tain is run by Carin Housing Association. The complex contains 32 flats used four oil boilers to provide heat and hot water. In an effort to reduce overheads and heating costs for the tenants, Cairn looked to Korrie Renewables to provide an alternative heating system.
With very little space available in the plant room for a new system, Korrie proposed a Korrie Energy Kabin. This all in one solution contained a 199kw Herz Firematic biomass boiler along with all the equipment required such as a 4000 litre buffer tank and a generous 14 tonne fuel store.
This new system offers the residents huge savings on their heating bills compared to the previous oil system. Cairn Housing Association will also benefit from the Renewable Heat Incentive which will provide an income over a 20 year period.
