This office block was built as the headquarters for Sureclean Ltd.
In order to be environmentally friendly, the company opted for a biomass heating system. This will provide low cost heat as well as very low carbon emissions.
To reduce disruption on site when construction work was being carried out, the biomass system was constructed in the Korrie Energy Park using shipping containers. This enabled the biomass plant room to be built in controlled conditions. Once the site was ready, the plant room was transported and put into place.
The finished plant room contained a 80kw Herz Firematic biomass boiler, 2 x 500 litre buffer tanks and a fuel store with a capacity of 10 tonnes. Cladding was installed on the containers to match its appearance with the main office building.
In addition to saving up to 40% compared to an oil based system, the installation will be eligible to claim payments from the Renewable Heat Incentive. This will provide an additional income for 20 years.
