Mr & Mrs Tate - Case Study
Mr & Mrs Tate have recently moved into their new family home in Kingussie. A combination of poor insulation and an old and inefficient oil boiler provided high fuel bills for their heat and hot water. They contacted local experts Korrie Renewables who suggested a biomass heating system.
With ample space in the unused garage, Korrie suggested a Trianco Greenflame ECO boiler. With a high efficiency of up to 95% and a very generous 221Kg hopper, the boiler can run for up to two weeks with out being reloaded. Coupled with a 500 Litre buffer vessel, this will provide a constant supply of heat.
The only input required from the owner is filling up the hopper and emptying the ashpan. With the option of a large capacity fuel store, you can remove the need for manually filling the system.
The biggest advantage of converting to biomass is the high fuel cost savings and generous income available from the Government Renewable Heat Incentive. By changing to pellets, Mr & Mrs Tate will be looking to save up to £1,400 a year on their fuel costs alone. The available RHI income is worked out using a deemed calculation which asseses the energy requirements to heat your home and hot water per annum. This figure is stated on a required Energy Performance Certificate which can provide an annual income of around £5,800. This means that the biomass system will pay for itself in under three years. When you consider the RHI scheme runs for 7 years, the Tate's can look forward to recieving an additional financial payback for their investment.
